The Mexican Bankers Association (ABM) held its 89th Banking Convention from March 18 to 20, 2026, in Cancún. For the first time, the convention included a social impact agenda, and the Mexican Banks Foundation was launched during the opening sessions.
The industry’s 2030 agenda rests on four pillars: digitalization and access to banking, customer empowerment and satisfaction, credit expansion and financial education. Speakers included President Claudia Sheinbaum, Banco de México Governor Victoria Rodríguez Ceja and international guests, with sessions on infrastructure credit and the future of the monetary system.
Why it matters
Banks remain the main source of bridge and construction loans for real estate developers. A sector that commits to growing credit opens room to negotiate new facilities, extend tenors and improve terms, as long as the project presents a solid credit file: permits, pre-sales or leases, equity contributed and a trust structure.
Congratulations to the ABM on the 89th edition of the Banking Convention.
